So I avoid high heels to the fullest. I prefer to wear sneakers, sandals or even tennis shoes.
I dread formal occasions the most…when non-heels aren’t really an option XDDD
I was actually thinking that when I first saw sailor mars
the pain of wearing high heels
I just thought that girls can withstand more pain than guys do,hence of why they fight so long in high heels xP

I thought after a while she’d get used to it. Hm.
The claim females have a higher pain tolerance than males is a myth, propagated by psuedo science. Now, Rei’s desire to ignore pain to avoid the more horrendous experience of fashion shaming may be a factor. But, as the Nostalgia Critic likes to point out in his review video… “14 years old…”
As much of a feminist as the original creator is credited as, I have to wonder about that, especially comparing Eastern and Western animated portrayals of female protagonists.
It’s still only the three of them, so its probably early on 8D

high heels hurt, that’s why i’d rather fight in sneakers… and something to prevent my legs from being scratched because that hurts like hell.

Hehe, this just reminded me early in the manga (got Brazilian vol.1! w00t!), when Mars does her first roll call (just before Makoto transforms into Sailor Jupiter for the first time), that she ends with “I will punish you with these high heels!” It’s a wonder they don’t break off at every fight.
haha yeah, in the anime version she also points out her high heels quite a bit too. Rei making a fashion statement XD

Hahaha about the high heels, I didn’t catch the pain, maybe because I’m a boy, but now… I think they were special magical heels that didn’t cause her any pain, the kind of heels that women would like to confiscate and give to scientist so they can understand and market hahaha.
I only know I loved how Mars got those stylish shoes :) I actually loved all the designs!

I think this one’s more for the girls to relate. I think heels in general look great but the reality is for a lot of us it’s difficult and painful to walk in XD I try not to think about Sailor Mars being 14 years old and running around in it like a pro XDD
I have a confession to make- I have never worn high heels. EVAR. But I guess I can still relate to the blisters from all the times on holidays walking around Wet’n’Wild water park for hours barefoot because someone stole my shoes while I was on a waterslide.

That is something I never did grasp about the magical girl concept: the complete lack of practicality. Every time I see the shoes or the power up sequences, I keep thinking of Oliver Platt from the Three Musketeers mocking the martial artist.
It’s fun though and we can see the appeal, eheehe ^__^

I feel her pain, cosplayed as her a few yrs ago and the only red heels in the right color and size was half a size to small for me but I wore them anyways for the cosplay…..still have the scars from those blisters but worth it, turned out great

lol I never understood how they were able to fight in heels
well, heels were actually originally a tool used by egyptian butchers to protect their feet from the blood on the floor, and plenty of dancers can wear them during routines and practice for said routines. it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine her fighting in them, especially considering how short the fights can be in this series. now if it were dbz or naruto where fights lasted like 7 episodes lol

Yeah, best to put some bandaids on those ankles before blisters form. A pair of socks with some considerable padding would help too.

totally possible to fight and jump in high heels… it just takes a lot of training and some specialized footwear that won’t leave blisters on your feet. ^^;; had friends who worked at an wild west place in montana where they had ladies act as wild gunslingers. So basically it’s possible to do those things in high heels, but it definitely would be much easier to do in flats.
haha yeah! XD There are people who are good at it, it just didn’t seem to fit right with me when Rei is 14 and can walk, run, jump and fight in them so easily XD
Yeah. but then on the other hand, Rei has been a Miko her entire life… she probably had practice at wearing specialized footwear all the time. like with those weird Japanese clogs that has wooden pieces under it that elevates your height compared to wearing Getas, heel pumps is probably a walk in the park. I do agree that wearing heel pumps during a fight could leave a lot of blisters, though.

LOL, I just knew Rei was up to something. I can sympathize with her, I’ve had to use band aids on my dress shoes for years, because they make the heals so tight. Though I haven’t worn spikes for 20 years. You’d think she could use them to torture the villains too!

I have the same problem XDD I can’t walk in heels very well, and tend to get blisters a lot when I do wear them. I have respect for the ladies that can run in stilettos. XD

It’s kinda of funny really. I mean, the two with heels, aka Venus and Mars, lasted longer than the other two with more comfortable footwear, aka Jupiter and Mercury.
What do you mean…”lasted longer”? ^^”
During the fight at the North Pole, Jupiter died first, then Mercury, Venus was third, with Mars being the fourth one.
I wouldn’t really base their strength on the order they died ^^” I think the only reason they died that order was because it was decision the senshi themselves made at the time~ like Mercury telling the others to go ahead first etc. I think they’re all strong in their own ways :)
Get less hot, Mars. That’s the only solution.

Hey, how about some more dark-moon-kingdom comics? ^^ i actually like them all very much, especially the sisters and rubeus and diamond ^^ or how about something with sailor moon’s identity? (like how no one recognizes a flashy character like her XD) or about women-issues of jadeite and rubeus XD (they don’t like them very much)

Not sure about the heel problem, but it’s great that Mars is still using practical solution to it.. Seeing her pose in panel 2 & 3, I thought she was gonna go all “Akuryou Taisan !” for a second there XD

ikr, that’s why I like SuperS because the members of the team villain are pretty much saved by the end of the Arc. I grew up watching the anime, and reading the manga few years back came as a bit of a shock as Naoko “kills” them off as if they were the monster of the day…
