  1. I tried watching the sub on Hulu but the subtitles were missing. Did anyone else have that problem? I watched on CrunchyRoll instead (first time using Crunchyroll!), but am surprised Hulu didn’t work as I watched the prior ones there.

  2. I love Sailor Moon regardless! But this season, I transformations, the old 90’s atmosphere of funny faces & teasing & playful music. Characters look their age (I also like season 1&2 character designs as well).

  3. I loved it sooooooooo much. I agree that the first 2 arcs really should’ve been animated like this. Loved seeing the transformations and attacks but the transformations look amazing with hints of 90’s flare in there. Cant wait to see the next episode

  4. Liked it a lot. But I really don’t like the music (BGM) because it’s so bland. I guess now that Mr. Arisawa is gone there’s no good composers left at Toei?

  5. So so so much better!! This is what I envisioned for the reboot! The attacks are AMAZING and the transformations are gorgeously done.

The style isn’t quite as “light and fluffy” looking as the first two seasons, but this looks just fantastic. Good riddens bad cgi, none of us will miss you!

Yeeee! I’m so excited now! Sailor Moon is back!!

  6. I loved it! It really made me wish the first two arcs were done in the same style tho :/ not that I didn’t like them but honestly, to me, this episode was much more pleasant on the eyes! :)

    1. The animation is much improved, but there were design details from the first two seasons I liked better like how they drew the shoulder guards and skirts (especially in the concept art), and their proportions were nicer than the new style’s small feet and hands, though I guess it makes them look younger and more “moe”. I do however much prefer these faces in Season III.

  7. I loved it! I’m so glad they got rid of the cgi transformations. The only thing I thought was awkward was the animation for their I will punish you stances after they transformed and how Luna, Diana, and Artemis look.

  8. It’s going to be really difficult for anyone to pretend Michiru and Haruka are cousins this time around! hehe

  9. I am SOOOOOO glad they went with a 2D transformation. That 3D one felt like they were trying to save money, but this 2D transformation feels like they took my childhood and perfected it.

  10. I was hoping the transformations would be nice like when Chibisusa became Chibi Moon but this new animator seems to make everything bendy worse than the first season of Crystal… Of course it might take some getting use to, but this particular style seems like the proportions are constantly :(

    1. I agree, overall the animation looks much smoother than before, the only thing that threw me was the weird angles and bendy-ness during the transformation. Otherwise, looks amazing and I can’t wait for it!

    2. Chibi-usa’s transformation wasn’t a proper transformation scene though – it was pop and done like chibi-chibi in stars or when chibi-usa first transformed in old S – that’s not a typical Sailor Moon transformation scene so why would it have ended up like that?

  13. I like this art style so much better. Takeuchi often drew very weird proportions, but I felt the first two arcs flaunted the weirdness of her manga style instead of the beautiful of it. Was it really necessary to have Sailor Moon’s arm be extra long in the iconic “punish you” pose just to match the manga? It really felt like it was making fun of the manga instead of respecting it. This style actually honors the manga style much more respectfully, making proportions more normal, but keeping lots of Takeuchi’s other details, like thin lanky limbs. I want to be reminded of the best of the manga art style while watching the anime, and this style looks like it will do that.

  14. I am so excited I could cry! I feel like I did just before the first episode of crystal was going to air!

  15. I actually really liked the original style of Crystal, but I understand thousands were unhappy with it for several, good, reasons. I know the new director is from PreCure, and that doesn’t bother me. I’m just a tiny bit worried it’ll look a little more PreCure than Sailor Moon in some ways. Though to be completely fair, I often find PreCure to be ten times more frilly and girly than Sailor Moon generally is. I suppose this is much more of a wait-and-see for me right now. I am extremely excited regardless!~~ Sailor Moon for LIFE!

  16. I just noticed that her ponytails arent attached to the odangos! I hope they fix that. but IM LOVING HOW AMAZING THE ANIMATION IS LOOKING :0

  17. Looks 110% better than the 3D if you ask me! I always thought usagi got the short end of the stick with the 3D transformations and venus’ was the best.

  18. The new animation looks awesome except for the mouth… there’s just something about it that bothers me.

  19. This style reminds me of sailor moon sailor stars. A lot of the end work and poster art from that time was really clean. I’m impressed. I like how they are mixing it up. And I hope the next season is different again. Thatd be so interesting!

  20. WHOA. I’m watching it!!!! I hated the First and Second seasons…… this looks much better!!! Defiently has a nostalgia feel Crystal previously had failed to give. Plus the songs, In Love With The New Moon and Eternaly Eternal, sounds so good!AND NO MORE 1:1 ADAPTATIONS! WE’RE GET DEVELOPMENT BABY! AND NO. MORE. 3D. TRANSFORMATIONS. *dies of happiness*

  21. omg, they almost remade the 90s into hd format. I will so buy this on blu-ray when the dub comes out! :D

  22. Aww. I wanted it to be done by the same group that dos the opener and closure from seasons one and two

  23. The new theme better be as good or better than Moon Pride, or I’ll be sad that they didn’t just keep using it like they did Moonlight Densetsu

  24. Their faces look a little better. Maybe they have a better budget and it won’t be as crappy as the previous seasons.

  25. We’re finally getting into the good stuff, where the story changes dramatically from the original anime. Seasons 1 & 2 were great but they were still pretty much the same old stuff. Just wait moonies! It’s going to be weird without pure heart crystals, dream mirrors and then finally a completely.different.stars. *screams*

  26. I would not say it’s an improvement. I’m not a fan of the new character design. While in the first to phases of Crystal the animation was a little choppy, and did have it’s bad points, it showed the scouts actually maturing in appearance due to what they all experienced, their deaths, near death experiences, etc. This character design actually (imho) takes a step back, and takes away the maturity that the scouts have gained, like it did not happen. This character design should have been used in the first Arc instead of in the third. It is something that you actually see progressing in the Manga which is what the art style is also supposed to be based off of, them aging and maturing. I am actually missing that with this from what I have seen from watching the trailer, it does not please me nor some of the others in my personal circle that I have talked to about this.

  27. Do we know yet if it will be following the same airing schedule as the first and second arcs (i.e., first and third Saturday, I think it was)?

  28. I really love the new art style they’ve gone with~ it resembles a lot more like the 90s style yet still looks fresh and pleasing :3 The official promo artwork is SO NICE!! Really hoping for an improvement in the animation too, seeing as it’s now airing in Japan television and not just a web based show :)

Infinity Arc is also drastically different to the anime version so it’ll be interesting for sure :D Seriously can’t wait for more Haruka/Michiru action. Trailer looked promising!

Also looking forward to the new transformation sequences as well as opening/closing themes ^^
